Noodles and Oodles of Fun

We all have those extra little bags of noodles laying around. There's not enough for everyone to eat, but there is too much to just waste...so let's create with them! We love coloring ours and making lots of fun colorful creations.



1. Materials: Any dry noodles in different shapes, food coloring, white vinegar, plastic zipper bags, and wax paper or something for noodles to dry on. 

2. Steps: Add a teaspoon of white vinegar and about 15-20 drops of food coloring in a plastic zipper bag. Add 3/4 cup of dry, uncooked noodles. Close the bag and try to cover all the noodles. Let the coloring set in for 5-10 minutes and recover the noodles if needed. Let sit for 5-10 minutes and then put noodles on wax paper to dry.


Any noodles with openings work great for this activity such as elbows, macaroni, or penne.

1. Materials: colored noodles, yarn, or string, scissors

2. Steps: Put them in a large bowl and have kids pick the noodles they want to use for their necklaces. Cut the strings or yarn to your liking – some might want necklaces or some might want bracelets – let them choose!

BONUS: add pom-poms, buttons, or other craft materials to their creations.
