Fun Spring Activities for Kids

Spring time is officially here 🌷!  There are so many fun activities to enjoy with the kiddies - whether you're emerging from the cold or still enjoying some nice weather before the summer heat (like us Floridians) - here are some fun and interactive activities you can do with the kids all Spring long.

1.  Outdoor scavenger hunt: create a list of items for kids to find in your yard or local park, such as flowers, insects, and birds.  I've found some really cute scavenger hunt lists on Etsy and google like these from a recent article in Parent Magazine.

2.  Plant a garden: teach kids about the different plants and vegetables that grow in the spring and have them help you plant and care for a garden.  There are tons of little kits that you can get from Amazon.  One thing I do recommend is getting a elevated garden like this one from Walmart to keep little critters out.  It's also a great time to bring in the veggies and sell them in their Swingly Farmer's Market!

3. Picnic in the park: pack a lunch and have a picnic in a local park or backyard.  The kids can also play along with this adorable picnic basket from Maisonette. These are just adorable!Wicker Shopping Basket - Play Food - 4

4. Spring crafts: create spring-themed crafts such as flower crowns, paper flowers, and birdhouses.  We love the finding projects on Pinterest. These are some of our favorites.

5. Bubble fun: make bubbles with soap and water and you have to add these bubble wands to the mix.  They are so fun to play with because they make HUGE bubbles!

6. Spring baking: bake spring-themed treats such as sugar cookies with flower decorations or strawberry cupcakes.  Michael's now has such a nice selection of bakery items but these little cutters are cute for Spring and other things too.  They are often on sale or you can find tons of coupons on their app.

7. Painting outdoors: set up a painting station outside and have kids create artwork inspired by the spring season.  We also love gathering leaves and using them as stamps on paper.  Check this tutorial post out from Growing a Jeweled Rose.
